"Le smartphone: Gadget d'addiction massive?" / "Smartphones: Massive-addiction gadgets?"
Memoir / Bachelor's degree (Applied Arts & Design) / 2014-2015

This memoir explores the following contemporary issue: how have our smartphones completely changed our perception and relationship to others, to the world and to ourselves?
It was developed jointly with my Bachelor's degree project, whose theme was "Dé-connectons" ("Dis-connect").

Conceived in 3 volumes, "1- Foreword", "2- Memoir" & "3- Annexes", this memoir comes with a silver colored envelop in which the reader must drag his phone, in order not to be disturbed by calls or text messages during its reading.
Here you can read an excerpt, drawn from the English version of this memoir:

"It took less than fifteen years to the cellphone to make its place in our everyday life... while it took a hundred years to the landline phone simply to reach our living rooms and offices.
The fact that a technical object has introduced itself so quickly in our lives is obviously not trivial at all.
Moreover, we are in an era where technology is advancing faster than we can possibly realize. That is why in a very short time, the mobile phone has found a successor which combines the potential of the cellphone to the ones specific of computers : the smartphone.
And today, more than half of French people have a smartphone. When you know that this item did not exist until 2007, this percentage is really impressive and above all shows the speed with which it is integrated into our daily lives.

But, as any object, the smartphone has changed our lifestyle. More than that, it is the source of many changes, which are today criticized by many people and ‒ sometimes knowingly ‒ ignored by others. We are going to analyse the influence and changes generated by this fabulous digital tool which, misused, is also responsible for abuses and addictions from which the designers must now find solutions."
